The Materials Engineering Department, in collaboration with the Department of Laser and Optics Engineering, conducted a workshop titled "The Role of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance in Developing the Educational Process" as part of the eleventh cultural season's activities.

The workshop took place on Tuesday, 3/5/2024, at nine-thirty in the morning in the conference hall of the Civil Engineering Department.

The lecture has been delivered by Assist. Prof. D. Firas Abbas Fadel in the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Kazem Matar Shabib, and the Administrative Assistant, D. Laith Wadah Ismail, addition to several department teachers, staff, and students.

The workshop covered the significance of psychological counseling in enhancing the educational process and addressing deviant behaviors, including issues related to drugs and harassment. Additionally, it inquired into methods for treating addiction and the application of mental health principles.

Finally, the Scientific Assistant commended the outstanding efforts of D. Firas Abbas Fadel and presented him with a certificate of appreciation and an excellence shield.

 

 

As part of the activities of the eleventh cultural season, the Department of Materials Engineering held a discussion lecture entitled “Clean Energy and its Fields”

This will be on Monday, 3/4/2024, at ten in the morning in the Graduate Studies Hall/Building B, where Lectered by. Lect. Dr. Shams Basil Ali, in the presence of the head of the department, Prof. Dr. The respected Jawad Kazem Aliwi and the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr.Kazem Matar Shabib, and the administrative Assistant, Asst.Prof.Dr. Respected Laith Wadah Ismail and a number of the department’s teachers and employees. The lecture included an introduction to clean energy, its types, and its importance in reducing global warming and environmental pollution. Its applications in the industrial and agricultural fields, transportation, and daily life were also discussed.

At the end of the lecture, the head of the department praised the distinguished teaching efforts made by Lect.Dr. Shams Basil Ali presented her with a certificate of  appreciation and a shield of excellence.

 

The Department of Materials Engineering, as part of the activities of the eleventh cultural season, organized an exhibition of graduation projects for undergraduate students on Monday, 3/4/2024, at nine in the morning in the courtyard of Building A. The Administrative Assistant to the University President, Prof. Dr.  Farhad Muhammad Othman, and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr.  Jawad Kazem Aliwi and the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr.  Kazem Matar Shabib praised all the projects and praised the work of the students and their motivation for outstanding work in the projects.

 

 

As part of the extracurricular activities of the Biomaterials and Prosthetics Engineering Branch, and based on the principle of enhancing the applied and practical aspect of the branch’s students, the Materials Engineering Department, Biological Materials and Prosthetics Engineering Branch, headed by the branch head, Prof. Dr. Sarmad Imad, and in the presence of Some members of the branch’s teaching staff, undertook a scientific field trip to Ibn  Al-Qaf Hospital./ Baghdad Center for Prosthetic Limbs, on Monday, 3/4/2024, where we were received by the director of the center, Mr. Saleh Burhan, who explained and presented all the practical details, along with a group of specialized doctors.

The trip included getting acquainted with all the departments of the center and the stages that people with special needs (amputation) go through, including diagnosis, examination, determining the condition, then the manufacturing processes for the prosthetic limb, where the materials involved in the manufacture of prosthetic limbs and their specifications were identified, in addition to the obstacles and problems that could arise during the manufacturing process.

At the end of the scientific visit, the students were briefed on a number of cases and how to diagnose them and train them to use the prosthetic limb.
