The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology held a training course entitled "Occupational safety" for the period 26-29/2/2024 in the electronic hall / Building A at ten in the morning, in the presence of the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kadhim Olaiwi and the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr. Kazem Matar Shabib and a group of the teaching staff. The administrative assistant, Assist. Prof. Dr. Laith Wadah Ismail lectured in the training course. The course included an introduction to occupational safety and the necessity of implementing health and safety rules in the workplace, guaranteed and stipulated by all labor regulation in various countries and confirmed by international labor standards. The course also addressed occupational health and safety procedures in the work environment and how to deal with risks in the workplace and the role of officials in ensuring a healthy and safe environment for employees. At the end of the workshop, the head of the department praised the efforts made by the lecturer and presented the lecturer with a certificate of appreciation.

The Department of Materials Engineering conducted a three-minute dissertation competition for master and PhD postgraduate students in the department on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 9.00 am in the postgraduate studies hall/building B, in the presence of Head of the Department Prof. Dr. Jawad Kadhim Olaiwi, and Lect. Dr. Haider Alaa Saleh, and the official of the scholarship investment unit the competition committee consisted of:

Assist. Prof. Dr. Sarmad Imad Ibrahim, Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology, received a scientific promotion from the rank of assistant professor to the rank of professor for fulfilling all the requirements for academic promotion while enjoying all the rights and privileges that this rank entitles him to, according to university order No. 137 dated 2024/ 2/26.

Materials Engineering Department will hold a workshop (The Importance of Special Education in Teaching Individuals with Determination (Special Needs)) on April 23, 2024, present by Lec. Eman Kazem.
