  About the Branch:

The program of Polymeric and Petrochemical Materials Engineering is dedicated to providing the country with specialists for a broad base of polymer-related materials through the development and application of our core competencies, which include education, research, analysis, design, synthesis and performance testing. The objective of both our academic and research functions is the practical application of scientific and engineering principles to generate new material and processing concepts and enhance technical problem solving capabilities related to the production and use of polymer.

  Vision:

The program should be a pioneer and innovator at the national level in teaching students in undergraduate and graduate studies in the field of engineering of polymeric and petrochemical materials. Graduates will gain the knowledge that will enable them to move ahead with industry development, government service, academic work and community service.

  Mission:

  Objectives:

  • Graduation of a group of engineers specializing in polymers have the ability to understand the relationships between the structure of polymeric materials and properties for use in various industrial applications.
  • Graduation of engineers with the ability to prepare new materials and choose the best way to manufacture them to obtain materials with characteristics suitable for the application required.
  • Graduation of engineers with the ability to diagnose problems related to the performance of polymers in various engineering applications and to find solutions and techniques appropriate to improve the properties of these materials.
  • Graduation of engineers who have the ability to examine and characterize engineering materials and analyze the results of the examination and characterization for the purpose of expressing the final opinion as to their suitability for use in the applications required.
