Under the sponsorship of the Honorable President of the University of Technology, Pro. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, and under the supervision of the Head of the Materials Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kadhim Olaiwi, the eleventh cultural season for the academic year 2023-2024 has been settled.

 After distributing certificates of appreciation to members of the Cultural Season Committee and in the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Prof. Dr. Kazem Matar Shabib and Administrative Assistant Assist. Prof .Dr. Laith Waddah Ismail and Director of the Internal Department Affairs Department, Assist. Prof .Dr. Muhannad Najah Jawad, the Head of the Materials Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kadhim Olaiwi presented cultural season shield to the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban for his unlimited support and sponsorship of all scientific, cultural and entertainment events on Sunday, 17/3/2024.

 

 

The Head of the Materials Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi, honored the chairperson and members of the eleventh cultural season, on Wednesday, 13/3/2024. The head of the department praised their outstanding efforts to make this season a success, as the season included many events, including seminars, workshops, an exhibition, and sports competitions, and urged them to make more efforts to raise the name of the department, and presented them with a certificate of appreciation and a cultural season medal.

 

The Materials Engineering Department held a scientific symposium entitled

“Sustainable materials and plastic recycling (processes related to climate change”

It was on Tuesday, 12/3/2024, at 11 in the morning in the Graduate Studies Hall/Building B, where Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdel Hussein Al-Zuhairi, in the presence of the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi and the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr.  Kazem Matar Shabib and Mr. Administrative Assistant, Asst. Prof. Dr. Laith Wadah Ismail and a number of the department’s teaching staff and members. The symposium included the concept of sustainability and its three pillars related to the economic, environmental and social aspects and the provision of clean, renewable materials and energy. The lecturer also touched on opportunities to improve the research environment in Iraq as one of the most important means in the country’s renaissance and the production of clean and renewable energy. Green hydrogen and solid waste recycling processes as one of the radical solutions to save energy, protect the environment, and strengthen the economy in Iraq.

At the end of the lecture, the Head of the Department praised the distinguished efforts made by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Zuhairi and presented him with a certificate appreciation.

 

 

Referring to the Department of Affairs letter, No. 164, dated 25/2/2024, and on the occasion of National Planting Day, the Materials Engineering Department held a volunteer planting campaign and hanging posters on Tuesday, 12/3/2024, at ten in the morning, under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi, with the participation of a group of the department’s teaching staff, employees, and students.

 

 

The Department of Materials Engineering, in cooperation with the Center for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Research, held a workshop entitled:

"The benefits of afforestation for humans and the environment"

  It was on Tuesday, 12/3/2024, at nine in the morning, in the seminar hall at the Center for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials, Eng. Engineer Huda Abbas Zidan, and in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, a ministerial committee responsible for afforestation, and a group of teaching staff and associates. The workshop included the importance of afforestation, the importance of afforestation and planting plants and trees that contribute to purifying the air and reducing temperatures, in addition to reducing desertification, dust storms and other many benefits of trees. All of this contributes to spreading this culture and constantly educating the community to urge them to establish such initiatives.

At the end of the workshop, the Administrative Assistant, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman praised Eng. Huda Abbas for her valuable lecture and the efforts made and encouraged such initiatives because they are beneficial to the public interest. She was presented with a certificate of appreciation.
