A scientific symposium

The Department of Materials Engineering / University of Technology, under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Dr. Prof. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, and with the supervision of the head of the Materials Engineering Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hussein Alaa Jaber the respected, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Defense, a scientific symposium entitled:

"Fire Performance and Sustainability of Sandwich Panel in Iraq"
And that was on Thursday, 16th of  December 2021 at 10:00 Am  in the discussion room in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering. The symposium was attended by the Governor of Baghdad, Engineer Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, and the President of the University of Technology, Dr. Prof. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, the respected, and the Administrative  assistantof   president of the university for administrative affairs, Dr. Prof. Hussain Hamid Karim, and Brigadier General Jawdat Abdel Rahman/ Directorate General of Civil Defense/ Director of Public Relations and Information, with a number of officers from different departments of the General Directorate of Civil Defense, as well as some heads of engineering departments at the university, along with a number of teachers and employees in various departments of the university.


The symposium included a number of lectures:


- The first lecture: by Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rumeid Gharkan and lecturer  Hashem Sharif Al-Jazaery)/University of Technology/Department of Materials Engineering/ Title of the lecture: "Technical Guidelines for Fire Hazards for Sandwich  Panels"


- Second lecture: Lt. Colonel Raed Hokan / General Directorate of Civil Defense / Title of the lecture
"The Hazards   of Using Insulating Panels"


- Third lecture: Asst.Prof.Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Hussein Al-Zuhairi/University of Technology/Department of Materials Engineering/The title of the lecture is "Sustainability of sandwich panels in Iraq between reality and the future"


The symposium aimed at diagnosing the problem of using sandwich panels in construction, and searching for immediate and future solutions to manage fire risks when using such materials, while addressing the incorrect uses of them and the resulting damage to come up with recommendations and appropriate implementation solutions, with the necessity of activating them when using them. Sandwich panels in various construction operations. At the end of the seminar, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the guests and lecturers.
