ٍAward a master's degree to Zainab Salem

The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a master’s degree to the student Zainab Salem Aziz, Department of Materials Engineering/ University of Technology, for her tagged thesis (Corrosion inhibition by plant extracts for carbon steel)

The discussion was held on the discussions hall / building B / Department of Materials Engineering / University of Technology on Sunday (07/11/2021). The discussion committee was formed of the teaching staff listed:

Position in the Committee

Prof. Dr. Anis Abdullah Kazem

Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Khudair Abbas

Lec. Dr. Shaima Mahdi Saleh

Prof. Dr. Rana Afif Majeed

Assist. Prof.  Majed Hamid Abdul Majeed

The dissertation was scientifically evaluated by Prof. Dr. Owham Mohamed Hamid/ University of Technology / Applied science department, and linguistically by Lec. Dr. Nassier Abdul-Hussain Nassir/ University of Technology / Department of Materials Engineering.

In this study, plant extract (wild clary)  are tested and applied to steel (AISI l015) to prevent its corrosion in two mediums of sea water and  0.5 M HCl using electrochemical studies at three temperatures (298, 318, 338 K) by adding five concentrations of the extract (5, 10, 15, 20, 25) mL /L. The inhibition efficiency was found to be excellent, reaching 83.078% at a concentration of 20 (ml/L) and a temperature of 298 (K), which is the best concentration in seawater, and 92.944% at a concentration of 25 (ml/L) and a temperature of 298 (K) which is the best concentration in an acid medium hydrochloric.

The discussion of the dissertation was conducted in a scientific atmosphere and a master's degree with grade of pass was awarded to the student after the completion of all the corrections that have been decided by the examiners.
