On 21/11/2017 a meeting of a Faculty Staff  was held for faculty members in the Materials Engineering Department / University of Technology for the purpose of clarifying the project of the independence of the university of technology. The meeting included an explanation of the subject of independence in all its scientific and administrative aspects. Ahmed Mohamed Hasan Al-Ghaban to the possibility of access to the teachers of all the provisions of the Ministerial Order issued in this regard and answer all queries related to the subject in this regard as additional sessions will be held for the purpose of consultation.
The meeting also touched on some important issues related to admission of students for this year and the tuition fees for the first semester of the academic year, and some important directives relating to the morning and evening studies were mentioned.

On November 21, 2017, a Chinese delegation accompanied by the Director of the Rehabilitation and Employment Division, Mr. Ammar Musa, visited the Materials Engineering Department at the University of Technology and was received by the Head of Laboratories. Jamal Jalal, where he briefed the delegation on the mechanism of work laboratories and the possibility of developing a mechanism of cooperation with the Department and the extent of possibilities available by the Department

On 25/10/2017, the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control granted a patent to each of the professors in the Materials Engineering Department / University of Technology, Dr.Daa Alaa El Din Abdel Hamid & Farhad Mohammed Osman and tagged:

(Manufacture of nanosides by chemical thermal spraying method and embedding them with mortar for construction applications)

This patent included the production of nanocrystalline powders using chemical spraying technology. The use of metal sulphate, titanium and copper sulfate to produce titanium dioxide (TiO2) and copper oxide (CuO) respectively at 750 ± 5 ° C and the use of different molar (0.01, 0.1, 1) molar. The tests were carried out on the powder, including X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, particle size analysis, and density testing. This method of preparation of nanoparticles is considered economical. The amount of the prepared material (30 ± 1 g) is 100 g of basic salt The production efficiency of TiO2% 87 and CuO's efficiency was 80% making it economical and feasible for industrial use.
