  6. Dr. Maan Salman Hassan, supervisory member
  7. Dr. Alaa Abdel Hassan Attia, supervisory member

In addition to evaluating the thesis scientifically by Asst prof Dr. Shatha Sadiq Hassan/University of Technology/Department of Civil Engineering, and Asst prof Dr. Dalia Hikmat Hamid/University of Babylon/College of Materials Engineering, and linguistically by Asst prof Dr. Nasir Abdel Hussein Nasser/University of Technology/Department of Materials Engineering.

 Abstract:

The thesis aims to improve the thermal and mechanical properties of concrete by studying the effects of three factors which are steel slag replacing coarse aggregates, waste glass replacing cement, and w/b using design of experiment and Minitab software. Thermal conductivity, compressive and splitting tensile strength, dry density, EDX, DTA, and SEM were conducted on 18 mixtures and compared with the control sample. Results revealed that it is possible to optimize the mechanical and thermal properties of concrete to satisfy the modern buildings demand.

After the discussion committee recorded its observations on the thesis, which were divided between explanation and correction, and the student’s defense of his thesis, and the end of the discussion, the committee sat down to evaluate the thesis, and decided to grant the student a doctoral degree with pass grade.

The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a doctorate degree to the student Russel Khaled Abdel Hazza/Department of Materials Engineering/University of Technology for her tagged thesis.

  5. Prof. Dr. Hana Arir Smej, member
  6. Dr. Abbas Khamas Hussein, supervisory member
  7. Prof. Dr. Laith Qais Abbas, supervisory member

In addition to evaluating the thesis scientifically by Prof. Dr. Iyad Murad Takhakh/Al-Nahrain University/College of Engineering/College of Mechanical Engineering, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Ali Muhammad/University of Technology/Department of Applied Sciences, and linguistically by Asst. Prof. Dr. Laith Waddah Ismail/University of Technology/Department of Materials Engineering.

Abstract

The study aims to prepare several nanocomposite coatings on low-carbon steel, acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, and alumina substrate two nanoparticles TiC and SiC were used. FESEM, EDX, XRD, contact angle, nanoindentation test, ball on-disc tribometer, and polarization tests were done. The results show different coating properties can be obtained using different deposition conditions. Two multi-criteria decision-making methods, the weighted sum model and the analytic hierarchy process were utilized to distinguish and choose the best coating for each substrate.

After the discussion committee recorded its observations on the thesis, which were divided between explanation and correction, and the student’s defense of her thesis, and the end of the discussion, the committee sat down to evaluate the thesis, and decided to grant the student a doctoral degree with a pass grade.

  1. Prof. Dr. Wafaa Mahdi Saleh, Chairman
  2. Asst.Prof.Dr. Hussien Hamel Zugaier , member
  3. Asst..Prof .Dr. Basma Hashim Muhammad, member

4.Prof . Dr. Mohamed Abdulhussien Al-Zuhairi , supervisory member

  1. Prof. Dr. Zaineb Baha’a Mohammed as supervisor.

In addition to evaluating the thesis scientifically by Prof. Dr. Rana Mahdi Saleh /University of Technology/ Department of Applied Science and Asst.Prof.Dr. Yasser Mahdi Abdulaziz /University of Technology/Department of chemical  Engineering, and linguistically by Asst.Prof .Dr. Khalid Khuther Abbas  / University of Technology/ Department of Materials Engineering.

After the examination committee recorded its comments on the thesis, which covered both explanation and correction, the student's defense of her thesis, and the conclusion of the discussion, the committee convened to evaluate the thesis. They decided to award the student a Master's  degree with a passing grade

Abstract

The study aimed to solve the problems of hot asphalt mixture represented by the Rutting (depth of rutting) occurring in Iraq by adding depolymerized polyethylene terephthalate (DPET) with bitumen to produce developed bitumen, while conducting the necessary tests, and after mixing the aggregate with the filler material and modified bitumen, a test of Marshall stability and percentage of Air voids, rutting depth, and indirect tensile strength. The results reached a clear and significant improvement due to the presence of functional groups represented by monomers in the additive with the developed bitumen. The optimal percentage of the additive was 20% DPET.
