Mohanad Al-Shroofy was born in Iraq. He completed his BSc (2003) and MSc (2006) in Materials Engineering at the University of Technology-Iraq. He was awarded a doctoral scholarship at the University of Kentucky (USA) from the Higher Committee for Education Development in Iraq (HCED) program. There, he completed his PhD. research in 2018. His first job position was at University of Technology (2003) until now. He is the chair (Founder) of Materials Research Society (MRS) (University of Technology and Middle Technical University Chapter Iraq) from 2017 until now, chair (Founder) of Iraqi Students Organization (ISO) at University of Kentucky (2015-2017), Member of the Electrochemical Society (ECS), and member of the Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS).

His research interests and ongoing projects are Dry powder coating process for low cost and environment friendly coating layers, Manufacturing of Lithium-Ion Battery and electrochemical capacitors, Improve quality and increase the cycle life, rate performance, and durability of Lithium-Ion Battery, Cathode and anode fabrication, Mixing process parameters, Identify slurry characterization, and Membrane manufacturing technology.
