The thesis discussion preparation and characteristic of bio functionally graded materials as replacement to hip, via powder technology technic. Experimental part of thesis include preparation two types of specimens First group was 10 layer zirconia-alumina symmetric graded specimens, where structure of specimens gradually change from center (zircon) to surface (Alumina), second group was 10 layer ceramic- titanium functionally graded materials, where composition gradually change from ceramic ( Alumina & zirconia stablish yttria) to 100% titanium. Physical properties tests include apparent density and porosity to green and sintering specimens, while mechanical properties include micro hardness, fracture toughness, residual stresses, and wear resistance. Bacterial activity had been tested for specimens and ingredient materials by diffusion method where creation bacterial groups had been counted. All samples showed high antibacterial activity against E. coli more than the basic components, finally microstructure of specimens had been tested by scanning electron microscope and chemical analysis.

Thesis discussed possibility of extracted Alumina from Iraq Kaolin, Dweikhala position/ Anbar. Kaolin rocks had crashed and milling to get less than 325 µm, before firing at 650 °C for 90 minute to remove organic and crystalline water. Then Kaolin powder had been treated with hydrochloride for 2 hours to separate silica by nomination from Alumina, after that the powder had rinse for 2 to 5 period, final step include deposition Alumina hydroxide which could be converted to Alumina by heat treated. This process produce Alumina hydroxide with high purity, more than 98%. The second part of thesis discussion using extracted alumina to produce refractory bricks, where mixing with Kaolin, and investigation characteristic of the produced bricks. The investigated properties include density, apparent porosity, water adsorption, compression strength and X-ray diffraction. The results show decreasing apparent density with increasing alumina content, increasing water adsorption with increasing alumina content.

Participation in a Conference
On 23/12/2017 a group of academic staff from the Department of Materials Engineering / University of Technology (Assist.prof. Dr.Niven Jamal Abdulqader, Dr. Ahmed Ameed Zainulabdeen, Assist. Lec. Aseel Mahmoud Abdullah and Assist. Lec. Sahar Hussein Ahmed participated with Dr. Hussein Mohamed Yousuf from the General Company for Steel Industries and Eng. Dr. Ahmad Muzaffar from the University of Qadisiyah, in Iraq's fourth conference for oil and gas
First research was:
Assessment of oil outer pipe coating effect on the electric current for cathodic protection
This paper deals with impact of silica powder and ethyl silicates as coupling agent on the cathodic protection electric current. Analytical study is performed to evaluate the required current to protect the oil pipe (10 km length and 6 inch diameter). Many prototypes of oil pipe are prepared to and coated by previous mentioned materials. The inner diameter is protected by cathodic current. Some characteristics of coating had been investigated and evaluated. The results show that the coating of outer diameter of oil pipe by silica powder and ethyl silicates is reduced to halve value from the requested protection current.
Second research was:
Study of the low temperature effect on the some properties of lining coating of steel liquid gas tank
This work deals with the study of physical properties like shrinkage, adhesion force and coating thickness of aluminum powder and ethyl silicates as coupling agent. The results show that coating strongly resists low temperatures and it is non-porous for liquid gas like propane methane and nitrogen. The best thickness of coating was (5 mm). The optimization is executed using Takeuchi-Enova technique

The thesis discusses preparation nano materials by thermo-chemical spray method, where mono, and tri metallic oxides had been prepared, (zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, and aluminum oxide), from basic solutions with different molarity, (0.005, 0.1, 0.5), by spray at 750 Cº. The prepared powders had been tested by x-ray, Scanning electron microscope, particles size analyses, addition to densities which tested according to Archimedes theory. The prepared powders used to promote cement mortar characteristics, the base specimens was (1:2.75), cement to sand ratio. Nano powdersadded with different weight fraction, (1%, 2%, and 3%), at different particles sizes, (11.8،38.8،109.8) nm. The tests include viscosity and other: physical, thermal, and mechanical properties after (7) days.
The results show improving of properties for all specimens, consequently nano powders of these materials can be used to improve cement mortar used in external application like cover external walls of building and other external construction applications.
