The Materials Engineering Department held an awareness seminar entitled: "Domestic violence and its effects on the individual and society"
It was on Tuesday, 23/4/2024, at 10:30 am in the Martyr Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis Hall/Civil Engineering Department.
It was attended by Colonel Walid Khaled Muhammad, Mr. Saif Sabri Qasim/Community Police, and Lecturer Asst. L. Haneen Rashid Majeed/ Division of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance, and in the presence of the Assistant President of the University of Technology for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman and Mr. Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi and Mr. Administrative Assistant, Asst. Prof. Dr. Laith Waddah Ismail, and Mr. Administrative Assistant of the Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. The honorable Wael Shawqi Abdel-Sahib and a group of members of the community police and a number of university teaching staff, employees and students. The symposium included learning about the meaning of domestic violence, its types, the effects that lead to violence, the mission of the community police in reducing this phenomenon, and the responsibility placed on the citizen in reporting incidents of domestic violence. The symposium included the psychological effects on the abused individual and on society as a whole
At the end of the lecture, the Administrative Assistant to the University President, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman and the Head of the Department praised the outstanding efforts of the lecturers and appreciated their efforts with certificates of appreciation for the lecturers.
The Materials Engineering Department holds a workshop
The Materials Engineering Department held a workshop entitled: "The importance of special education in educating individuals with determination (special needs)".
It was on Tuesday, 23/4/ 2024, at 10:00 am in Hall 6 / courtyard of Building B.
The lecture was gave by L. Iman Kazem Hamza, in the presence of the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi and a number of the department’s students. The workshop aimed to Get to know the group of people with disabilities closely, how to deal with them, and in what manner they are dealt with, so that it becomes easier for them to know them well, their hobbies, and the jobs they can master, because they are considered to have sensitive feelings and are very gentle.
At the end of the lecture, the head of the department praised the distinguished efforts made and presented the lecturer, L. Eman Kazem Certificate of Appreciation.
The Department of Materials Engineering holds seminars for graduate students
The Department of Materials Engineering held seminars for postgraduate students (Doctorate, Master) on Sunday, 21/4/2024, at 10:00 am. The discussion committees were composed of professors, Prof. Dr. Alaa Aladdin Abdel Hamid and Asst. Prof. Dr. Nevin Gamal Abdel Qader greeted doctoral students in the Graduate Studies Hall, Building A,. Prof. Dr. Wafaa Mahdi Saleh , Asst. Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdel Muhammad in the Graduate Studies Hall, Building B . Prof. Dr. Hussein Alaa Jaber . Asst. Prof. Dr. Hana Arir Smej in the electronic hall, Building A, as one of the work methodologies for graduate students. The discussion sessions were directly supervised by the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi and the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr. Kazem Matar Shabib.
The Department of Materials Engineering organized a scientific lecture
The Department of Materials Engineering organized a scientific lecture titled "Materials Engineering Tests and Avoiding sudden failure and collapse of materials." The lecture took place on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM in Room 6, Building B courtyard.
The lecture has presented by lecture Hashem Shareef Ni'ma, with present the Head of the Department, Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi, and several students of the department.
The lecture targeted fourth stage students on purpose of providing a clear view about opportunities of specializing in the field of engineering tests and obtaining scientific examination levels (Levels 1, 2, and 3), as well as training in welding inspections for a post-graduation students.
Furthermore, the lecture illustrates the collaboration with various government institutions for training both students and graduates.
At the end of the lecture, the Head of the Department praised the lecturer's outstanding efforts and honored him with a certificate of appreciation.

A doctoral candidate from the Materials Engineering Department qualified for the final stage of the thesis competition in three minutes
The doctoral candidate, Nour Ibrahim Ali Jan, from the Department of Materials Engineering, qualified for the Three Minutes Thesis Competition, which concluded on Wednesday, 3/27/2024, where it witnessed wide participation and intense competition among thirty contestants from all university departments, and after continuous efforts, 9 contestants qualified for the stage. Among the finalists is doctoral student Nour Ibrahim, who will have the opportunity to present her thesis
"Fabrication and Characterization of Hybrid Composite Tissue Engineering Scaffold For Bone Growth by Electrospinning"
The main target of this dissertation is remediation of osteoporosis satisfactory، which results from many reasons (e.g. Aging, smoking, heredity...). More than two types of bio-polymers were mixed, in-order to produce scaffold which improves bone growth factor without negative side effects.
