Abstract:
The thesis aims to improve the thermal and mechanical properties of concrete by studying the effects of three factors which are steel slag replacing coarse aggregates, waste glass replacing cement, and w/b using design of experiment and Minitab software. Thermal conductivity, compressive and splitting tensile strength, dry density, EDX, DTA, and SEM were conducted on 18 mixtures and compared with the control sample. Results revealed that it is possible to optimize the mechanical and thermal properties of concrete to satisfy the modern buildings demand.
After the discussion committee recorded its observations on the thesis, which were divided between explanation and correction, and the student’s defense of his thesis, and the end of the discussion, the committee sat down to evaluate the thesis, and decided to grant the student a doctoral degree with pass grade.
