The Department of Materials Engineering/University of Technology awards a master’s degree
The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a master’s degree to the student Asmaa Khalil Abdel Karim/Department of Materials Engineering/University of Technology for her thesis titled:
"Improvement of cosmetic biomaterials by natural additions"
The discussion took place in the graduate studies hall in Building B in the department on Tuesday, 12/12/2023, at nine in the morning, and the discussion committee consisted of Messrs.
- Dr. Akram Rahim Gabr, president
- Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdel Muhammad, member
- Manar Abdul Jabbar Najm, member
- Dr. Imad Saadi Abdel Karim, supervisory member
- Prof. Dr. Fatima Jaafar Muhammad, supervisory member
In addition to evaluating the thesis scientifically by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ammar Imad Kazem/University of Babylon/College of Materials Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Nahida Juma Hameed/University of Technology/Department of Applied Sciences, and linguistically by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Jalal Daoud/University of Technology/Department of Materials Engineering
Abstract:
The aim of the research is to enhance the performance of sunscreen cream with natural additives (Bee wax, Lanolin, Sandal wood extract) because these materials are safe on the skin, non-toxic, and do not have side effects on the skin. Sunscreen cream has been tested by physical, chemical and biological tests. The results are explained that the prepared sunscreen samples showed the absence of irritation and redness and better than commercial sunscreen in transmission, anti-bacterial, Ph and SPF tests and Convergent values in FTIR and physical test.
After the discussion committee recorded its observations on the thesis, which were divided between explanation, correction, and the student’s defense of her thesis
At the end of the discussion, the committee settled to evaluate the thesis and decided to award the student a master’s degree with a pass grade.
The Materials Engineering Department holds a workshop
The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology, in cooperation with the Center for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials, held a workshop entitled: “The steps followed in applying for academic promotions according to Instructions No. 167 of 2017”
This will be on Tuesday, 12/12/2023, in the Electronic Hall/Building A at 10:30 in the morning, in the presence of the Scientific Assistant, The respected Asst. Prof. Dr. Kazem Matar Shabib and a group of lecturers staff, and Prof. Dr. Rana Afif Majeed, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Hind Basil Ali. The workshop included how to calculate grades in Table (1) (2), conditions for applying for the academic ranks to be obtained, and instructions recorded in the Scientific Promotions Guide No. 167 of 2017. At the end of the workshop, the Scientific Assistant praised the efforts made by the two lecturers and presented them certificates of appreciation.
