Abstract:
This experimental study aims to improve the efficiency of thermal applications by achieving the lowest possible thermal contact resistance(TCR) between different metal pairs (copper, aluminium, brass) using multiple intermetallic materials (aluminum foil, copper foil, brass foil) and applying varying pressures. All experiments were conducted by A thermal system was designed and manufactured for this work. The study concluded that using aluminum foil as an interface material gave the lowest thermal contact resistance compared to other interface materials.

An awareness seminar titled 'The Effects of Drug Addiction on Family Disintegration'
The Materials Engineering Department, in collaboration with the Nanotechnology Center, organized an awareness seminar titled 'The Effects of Drug Addiction on Family Disintegration.' The seminar took place on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, and was attended by numerous students, staff, and faculty members. Also the seminar has been attended by Dr. Rana Afeef Majid and Dr. Hind Basal.
the seminar covered three main topics:
The first one addressed “ the head of the family's drug addiction and its impact on family disintegration, and its effects on both the material and psychological aspects of the family.
The second topic focused both parents drug addiction and its impact on the family.
The third topic discussion the drug addiction of one of the children and its effects on the family atmosphere.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness among students about the dangers of drug addiction, considering its impact on physical, material, and psychological well-being, as well as its effects on the family. At the end of the seminar, the speakers were thanked for their valuable presentations, and the audience was appreciated for their interest and attendance."

An awareness symposium
- The Department of Materials Engineering, in collaboration with the Center for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials, hosted an awareness symposium titled “Enhancing National Heritage Identity” on Thursday, October 19, 2023. The symposium presented by Prof. Dr. Saad Badri Hassoun Farid and it was attended by the Department Head, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi, and the Director of the Nanotechnology Center, Prof. Dr. Rana Afif Majeed. The symposium discussed heritage aspects include material, intellectual, artistic, creative, and linguistic heritage, in scientific, social, legal perspectives, and the relationship between them and the construction of the Iraqi character. The message conveyed by the symposium emphasized that the national character is constructed through an understanding and adoption of these building elements, not only limited to material heritage, but also on all the elements of the heritage mentioned above. At the end of the symposium, the scientific assistant of materials department expressed gratitude to the lecturer for the valuable presentation and presented a certificate of appreciation in recognition of their efforts.
