Abstract:
Merging membrane technology with the photocatalytic activity of nanomaterials is a promising approach towards minimizing membrane fouling consequences. In this work, nanocomposite membranes were synthesized by non-solvent induced phase inversion process, by immobilizing Tungsten Oxide (WO2.89) nanoparticles (NPs) in polyether sulfone matrix. The results showed that membrane's properties and pollutants' rejection, flux recovery ratio, and flux were improved after NPs addition. It was also found that after exposing the samples to UV light irradiation, the flux recovery ratio was improved for the NPs modified membranes compared to neat membranes. It was found that the flux value at longer time for the NPs modified membranes after irradiation were higher compared to the modified membranes with same NPs loading without irradiation.

5.Asst. Prof .Dr. Wafaa Abdel Saud Member
 6. Prof.Dr. Mowaffaq Ali Tawfiq  Supervisor
7. Asst. Prof .Dr. Qassem Abbas Attia Supervisor

After the discussion committee recorded their  observations on the thesis, upon explanation and correction and  after  the Researcher’s defense on  his thesis and the end of the discussion, the committee decided to accept  the thesis, and decided to grant the researcher a doctorate degree with a Pass grade.

Abstract
This thesis lies in two main parts; experimental and analytical work. In the first part, an analytical model was prepared to analyze and calculate the dynamic behavior of the random copolymer polypropylene pipe (PP-R) conveying fluid, using Integrated Transformation Techniques (ITT). In the second part, a semi-active control system was designed using Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller, by employing the shape memory alloy (SMA) wires, made of nickel titanium alloy (Nitinol), to mitigate the vibration of the pipes caused by the fluid flowing inside them. The results demonstrated that there was a large increase in pipe deflection and a significant decrease in natural frequency with increasing temperature and aspect ratio under different fluid velocities. The results manifested that there is a reduction in the level of vibration (about 75%) was obtained by thermal activation of the shape memory wires which leads to alter the dynamic response of the pipe.

A letter of Acknowledge

The Honorable President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, granted a letter of Acknowledge  to the Asst.  Prof. Dr. Jabbar Hussain Muhammad on of the teaching staff  in the Department of Materials Engineering, for his outstanding efforts in completing and publishing two research papers within Scopus containers, according to book No. 572 S/Aff dated 06/30/2022.

first paper titled

"Natural frequency and critical velocities of heated inclined pinned PP-R pipe conveying fluid"

Abstract
This work treats the transverse vibration for a polypropylene random copolymer (PP-R) pipe, conveying fluid. The pipe was placed at different support angles and subjected to variant temperatures. It was revealed that the thermal effects in the pipe are a very important factor and more significant in comparison with the internal fluid velocity and the inclination angle has a larger impact on vibration characteristics at a higher aspect ratio.
Second paper  titled

"Dynamic response of inclined pipe conveying fluid under thermal effect"

Abstract
This work is aimed at studying the dynamic response of polypropylene random-copolymer (PP-R) pipes caused by fluid flow inside them. The results demonstrate that there is a significant increase in pipe deflection with increasing temperature and aspect ratio. and fluid velocity, while a decrease in the deflection value is observed with an increase in the angle of inclination in the range of 0-90°.
