The President of the University of Technology grants a letter of acknowledgement  and appreciation to a instructor from the Department of Materials EngineeringThe Honorable President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, granted a letter of acknowledgement  and appreciation to Dr. Naseer Abdul-Hussein Naser, a instructor in the Department of Materials Engineering, for his distinguished efforts in completing and publishing the research below within Clarivate, according to the book No. Q.P.Q./786 dated 12/6/2021.Research title"The Perforation Resistance of Aluminum Based Thermoplastic FMLs" The names of the researchersM.D. Naseer Abdul-Hussain Naser, Robert Berg, Wensley Cantwell, Muhammad Al-Tijani, Zunoy KwanJournal name:Applied Composite MaterialsVol: 28, Mar. 2021, P: 587-605

Abstract

The aim of this investigation is to study the impact response of fibre metal laminates (FMLs) based on S-glass/ PEKK composite and aluminum sheets (2024-T3). Initially, the effect of the temperature excursion of the processing cycle on the tensile strength of the aluminum alloy is investigated. A number of fibre metal laminates based on an aluminum alloy and glass fibre/PEKK composites are then manufactured and subjected to quasi-static testing and impact loading. Finite element analyses are then developed to predict the perforation impact of these FMLs and subsequently validated using the obtained experimental data.

Hamid Kavous Omidvar (supervisor and member)

 Abstract

The thesis aim to study the brazing using transient liquid phase technique (TLP) traditional and two steps to join Ni-based super alloys types (IN738LC, IN939) then comparing between similar IN738LC, Similar IN939 and dissimilar IN738LC/IN939. The connection done using 70um foil of BNi-2 filler in vacuum environment. A successful joining efficiency and homogenous microstructure for all types

After the discussion, the committee recorded its notes on the thesis, which were split between explanation and correction, and the student’s defense of his work and the discussion ended. The committee decided to evaluate the thesis and grant the student a science master’s degree in materials engineering with a full grade.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to study the capacitive properties of graphene with polymer materials. The work included the preparation of graphene in two different methods (two-dimensional graphene and three-dimensional graphene structure) with the preparation of two different types of nanocomposites (graphene/epoxy) and (graphene/polyurethane) by weight (1 wt%, 2 wt%, 3% wt, and 4 wt%) all prepared graphene materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Raman Spectroscopy. The (LCR) results showed that the addition of graphene to the polymer enhances the capacitive properties due to the graphene nanosheets resemble a micro capacitor was composed of nano capacitors.

After the discussion, the committee recorded its notes on the thesis, which were split between explanation and correction, and the student’s defense of his work and the discussion ended. The committee decided to evaluate the thesis and grant the student a master’s degree with a full grade.
