On 12/3/2018 the Department of Materials Engineering / University of Technology held a workshop titled

(scientific publishing in scientific journals and distinguished from the pseudo-magazines)

The first lecture was given by Mr. Ahmed Abdel Amir Hussein, Director of the Center of Energy Technology and Renewable Energies. The second lecture was delivered by the faculty of Materials Engineering Department. Assist. Prof Dr. Aseel Basem Abdel-Hussein included an explanation about the publication in the original scientific journals and how to differentiate between them and the pseudo magazines where the official websites were presented to distinguish the sites of the magazines from the false and explain the ways to universally in publishing and the lecture also included the definition of methods of writing scientific research sober and urging the registration sites Global researchers such as portal researchers, Google Scholar and others. At the end of the lecture, the dialogue was answered on a series of inquiries and questions from the audience.

On 12/3/2018 the Department of Materials Engineering / University of Technology and in cooperation with the Unit to follow up graduates workshop entitled "Microsoft word for graduate students"

The lecture was presented by Mr. Tawfiq Mohammed Tawfiq and under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Hussein The lecture included explaining how to use the skills of the printing program of the tables and the work of texts and designs in addition to other information on the program and may be needed by the Engineer after the graduation stage for the purpose of using it as a help to help in recruitment. Thesis include preparation conductor polymer from polyvinyl which consider insulation by electrical spinning. Electrical conductive polymer prepared from polymer solution (polyvinyl) with different percentage additive of (copper chloride, nano copper powder, nano silver particles, polyaniline, and carbon nano tubes), and the effect of these additive into microstructure, conductivity, and mechanical properties.

The work include the effect of additive into electrical conductivity, viscosity, and surface tension of solution which used to preparing conductive membranes. The results show increasing electrical conductivity with increasing additives and decreasing viscosity and surface tension, except in case of polyvinyl alcohol solution /copper, and  polyvinyl/silver.

This thesis had been scientific evaluation by Prof Dr.  Zuhair Jabbar Abdul Amir / Karbala University / Engineering collage. And linguistically by Assistant Prof Dr. Samir Ali Amin / university of technology/ mechanical engineering department. The discussion of the thesis had been performed at the building C, and the discussion’s committee agreed to award the student Master degree.

The thesis discussion preparation and characteristic of bio functionally graded materials as replacement to hip, via powder technology technic. Experimental part of thesis include preparation two types of specimens First group was 10 layer zirconia-alumina symmetric graded specimens, where structure of specimens gradually change from center (zircon) to surface (Alumina), second group was 10 layer ceramic- titanium functionally graded materials, where composition gradually change from ceramic ( Alumina & zirconia stablish yttria) to 100% titanium. Physical properties tests include apparent density and porosity to green and sintering specimens, while mechanical properties include micro hardness, fracture toughness, residual stresses, and wear resistance.  Bacterial activity had been tested for specimens and ingredient materials by diffusion method where creation bacterial groups had been counted. All samples showed high antibacterial activity against E. coli more than the basic components, finally microstructure of specimens had been tested by scanning electron microscope and chemical analysis.

This thesis had been scientific evaluation by assistance Prof Dr.  Ayad Mourad Takhakh / Nahrein University / mechanical department. And linguistically by Assistant Prof Dr. Omar Faroke Lutfiy / university of technology/ control and systems engineering department. The discussion of the thesis had been performed at the building C, and the discussion’s committee agreed to award the student Ph.D. degree.
