Abstract:

This research aims to manufacture two types of contact lenses (hard and soft), study the effect of adding aloe vera gel on the composition and properties and know the effect of covering the lenses with a thin layer of colloidal silver. A hard lens was prepared from poly methyl methacrylate and a soft lens was prepared by polymerization of many monomers to form a hydrogel. Samples were mixed with different weight percentages of aloe vera gel. Several tests were performed on the resulting lenses before and after adding aloe vera gel and also before and after covering them with colloidal silver. All samples showed great resistance to Staphylococcus aureus, and the effect of aloe vera was strongly observed. Adding aloe vera gel to contact lenses helps enhance their performance, as the degree of homogeneity is very high.

Abstract:

This research investigates the effect of fiber and filler reinforcement materials on armor composite plates' mechanical and ballistic protection properties. Using an experimental design based on the Taguchi technique with orthogonal array L9 (34), so nine experiments were introduced instead of eighty-one experiments.

The nine armors that were made have shown different levels of success in the ballistic efficiency that classifies them under level II protection of body armor according to the National Institute of Justice Standards.

Abstract

The thesis aimed to study the mechanical properties and microstructure of welded tubes (similar and dissimilar welding).(T22-T22),(T91-T91),(T91-T22)  by using different filler metals (ER90S-B3,ER90S-B9,ERNiCr-3) used in steam boilers in electric power plants. The welding process (GTAW) was carried out for the pipes, taking into account the heat treatment before welding and after welding and the (purging process for root pass only) by argon gas. Also, six tests were conducted to examine the microstructure, mechanical properties and effectiveness of the weld, which include: radiography, optical microscopy, electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), hardness test (HV), tensile test at high temperature ( 550) degrees Celsius to simulate the real conditions of the pipes inside the boiler. The results of the work in the similar welding (T22-T22) showed that when using the filler metal (ER90S-B3), the highest tensile strength (419 MPa) was obtained with elongation (20%) compared to the other sample when using filler metal (ERNiCr-3), tensile strength (379 MPa) with elongation (21%) was obtained. The highest hardness value (230 HV) was obtained in (HAZ of T22) in dissimilar welding when using filler metal (ER90S-B3) compared to other samples when using filler metal (ERNiCr-3) was obtained (205 HV), and when using filler metal (ER90S-B9) was (206 HV). Also, the tensile test showed that the fracture site of the samples it varies with the filler metals used. The efficiency of the welded samples was also extracted, and the efficiency was (100%) for all welds with similar and dissimilar welding.

 Abstract

This research aims to prepare PVA/NiTi composite nanofibers by electrospinning technique, using a new method to produce NiTi nanoparticles (by assaying the NiTi alloy produced by sintering using a vacuum furnace )by laser, as NiTi nanoparticles were used in the electrospinning process.  .  The resulting NiTi nanoparticles were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), (SEM), these fibers were added to Portland cement and the compressive and bending properties were examined and it was noted that the addition of fibers led to a positive improvement in the compressive strength of the cement.

Abstract

In this study, hybrid composite materials were manufactured using the hand lay-up technique, where epoxy was used as a matrix material and two types of reinforcement were glass fibers and particles of natural material (tamarind seed particles (TS)(  and coffee bean particles (CS)). The mechanical and physical properties of these composite materials were studied. Also, these materials were characterized by using Fourier Transform Infrared FTIR, Differential Scanning Calorimetry DSC, and Field Emission scanning electron microscopy FE-SEM. Because of the natural material's high moisture sorption, it was chemically treated with (NaOH).

The results showed that the mechanical  properties improved by increasing the weight percentages of TS and CS, when compared with pure epoxy and (epoxy +glass fiber), and the percentage (20 wt%) of both natural particles.

physical propertites improved by increasing the weight percentages of TS and CS (density, thermal conductivity, and acoustic insulation)

DSC characterization revealed an increased glass transition temperature value with increasing both natural particle weight fractions.

From FE-SEM results, it is clear that the fracture pattern became ductile after adding chemically treated natural particles. Furthermore, these treated naturals led to increased surface roughness and interfacial adhesion of hybrid composites, in addition to homogenous dispersion of particles within the matrix.

Abstract:

In this research, thin films were prepared for nanocomposite materials deposited on quartz substrates by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method. The percentage of copper in the target material (3, 5 and 7%), the laser energy (600, 700 and 800 MJ) and the substrate temperature were used. (200, 300 and 400 Cᵒ) as variables for this technique. The design of experiments (DOE) using Taguchi was used, which designed (27) experiments according to these three factors. The prepared films were examined using (XRD, AFM, FESEM, EDX, Uv-Vis, Nanoindentation) to know The structural, optical and mechanical properties of the prepared thin film films and the knowledge of the optimum thin film using (Composite Desirability), which works towards increasing the hardness and reducing both the energy gap and the  surface roughness and it was (11.23 Gpa, 2.79 ev and  1.25 nm) respectively , and (ANOVA) analysis showed that the most influential factor was In the results, the value is the percentage of copper in the target material..

The discussion of the dissertation was conducted in a scientific atmosphere and a master's degree with grade of pass was awarded to the student after the completion of all the corrections that have been decided by the examiners.
