Dr. Raad Suhail Ahmed Adnan, Department of Materials Engineering / University of Technology, published researches entitled:
"Effect of Cerium Addition on Mechanical Properties and Microstructure of Al-12%Si Alloys" The International Journal of Advances in Science, Engineering and Technology (IJASEAT), in Volume-7, Issue-3, pp 95-97, 2019.
Abstract
This paper aims to study the effect of Ce addition on mechanical properties of Al-12%Si Alloy Ce was added in three different percentages(2%,4%, & 6%).The alloy were prepared by induction furnace under Aragon atmosphere and poured into a sand mold then with the casting was machined by Turning , next chemical analysis by X Ray Fluorescent (XRF) for the alloys and optical microscope for microstructure , the mechanical testing compression test and Vickers Micro hardness test were performed on the specimens , results showed an increase in mechanical properties and in decrease in hardness ,the alloy with 6% Ce addition gave the best results in mechanical properties .while The Microstructure showed the Braking of the Si Dendrite into a coarse grains of Si with the increase of Ce Percentages.
On 9/22/2019, each of academic staff (Prof. Dr. Sahama Issa Saleh, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan al-Ghabban, Department of Materials Engineering / University of Technology, and Dr. Alia Hussein Abdul Salam Center for Nanotechnology Research and Presentation Materials / University of Technology) got patent tagged:
"Manufacture and characterization of polymeric mixtures and hybrid nanocomposites for use in medical applications as a cartilaginous replacement in the articular surface of the moving bones"
The patent included the manufacture of polymeric mixtures and some nanocomposites and the production of materials used in medical applications as hybrid materials with a high ability to work in special conditions in the human body as is the case in the process of replacing cartilage and the separating surfaces between bones. This study indicated the opening of new horizons for the use of the aforementioned materials as medical materials manufactured according to specifications required for tissue replacement operations.
Mr. Prof. Dr. Imad Hussein Marzah Al-Husseini, President of the University of Technology, presented a book of thanks and appreciation to the teaching prof. Ali Hussein Ataiwi / Department of Materials Engineering due to his exceptional and distinguished efforts in the committees of the Fourth International Conference on Building and Construction Engineering and the Environment / Istanbul, according to the book No. 12658 dated 13/11/2019.
Mr. Prof. Dr. Imad Hussein Marzah Al-Husseini, President of the University of Technology, presented a book of thanks and appreciation to the Asst. Prof. Jawad Kadhim Alaiwi / Department of Materials Engineering due to the his distinct efforts in preparing and producing the manuscripts in the Journal of Engineering and Technology, which resulted in occupying its position as a solid scientific magazine, according to the book numbered C / 9/1350 on 7/11/2019.

- Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, Eng. Muhannad Najm Abdul Wahid, M.A. Ali Kamel Ahmed teaching staff in the Department of Materials Engineering / University of Technology, participated as lecturers in the training course entitled:
"MICROSOFT WORD"
Which was established by the Continuous Education Center at the University of Technology for the period 10-14 / 11/2019, and the course included introducing the participants to the program lists and how to benefit from it in printing and bringing the participants to the level of professionalism.

- On 21/10/2019, assist. Prof. Laith Kais Abbas, university of technology- materials engineering department, participated in a workshop entitled (Photo catalysis and its application). The workshop was organized by the nanotechnology and advanced materials center at the conferences hall. The workshop discussed the role of photo catalysis in solving the problems of environment and energy sectors. The photo catalysis can be used to remove the dangerous materials i.e. organic and toxic materials as well as the heavily metals ions. It can also be used in some production processes such as hydrogen gas production from photo water decomposition.
- A thank letter was awarded to Prof .Dr. Aseel Basim Abdul-Hassan (materials engineering department) by the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Imad Hussain Merza Al Hussaini, for her special effort in publishing journal paper according to the world ranking Clarivate Analytics.

"The problem of poor overall performance"
Which takes place at the University of Technology theater on Thursday 14/14/2019 at nine o'clock. It is part of a series of seminars focusing on the mission of the University of Technology in Society. The lecture was given by Prof. Dr. Kamal Al-Basri, where he discussed the diagnosis of the causes of poor job performance in our country which is part of public awareness and mission to advance our society and country to the ranks of developed nations.
According to the university order M R G/ 289, on 4/11/2019, it was appointed Prof. Dr. Fadel A. Hashem as a new head of the Department of Materials Engineering to replace Prof. Dr. Ahmed M. H. Al-Ghabban from his duties and conducting the department work until appointing the person who replaces him in an original way, according to the order No. 5 B H D / 3207 on 7/11/2019.
- The President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Emad M. Al Husseini, presented a thankful and appreciation letter to Prof. Dr. Aseel B. Abdul Hussein/ Department of Materials Engineering in the celebration of the success of the 250-strong research initiative at the Clarevet International Magazines (2018-2019) at the University Theater according to the book numbered 566 in 04/09/2019.
- The President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Emad M. Al Husseini, presented a thankful and appreciation letter to Ass. Prof. Dr. Jawad K. Alewi/ Department of Materials Engineering due to his efforts in preparing and directing the Journal of Engineering and Technology, which resulted in occupying a discreet scientific journal, according to the book numbered M.G / 9/1350 on 7/11/2019.
- Dr. Thamer A. Hassan, the president of Al-Karkh University of Science, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to the Ass. prof. Dr. Akram R. Jabr/ Department of Materials Engineering, as a proudly and gratefully for his outstanding effort in performing his duties through the Scientific Committee of the Special Session (Session 13, Nano sensors & Advanced Materials) at the DeSE2019 conference, according to the book No. 335 in 29/10/2019.
