Effect of Annealing Treatment on the Anisotropy Behavior of Cold Rolled Stainless Steel 304 Sheets

In this work the effect of annealing treatment on texture and anisotropy behavior of cold rolled stainless steel 304 sheets were investigated. Different annealing temperatures were used to study their effects on anisotropy behavior. The results show that the normal anisotropy value of annealed samples at 1150°C increases by (31%) and significant reduction (about 88.7%) in planar anisotropy value as compared to the received samples.

Effect of Different Quenching Media on Microstructure, Hardness, and Wear Behavi or of Steel Used in Petroleum Industries

The main aim of this study is to get the optimal conditions for heat treatment which brought the best combination of mechanical properties of medium carbon steel without tempering treatment. Thus, in current study, an investigation of effects of polymer solution media on the quenching process was carried out with samples made of medium carbon steel. The samples were quenched in different concentrations of polymer (polyalkylene glycol) solution. The results show that the quenched samples in polymer solution with 10% polyalkylene glycol were brought the best combination of mechanical properties as compared with other quenched and tempered samples.

Evaluation the Mechanical Properties of Kaolin Particulate Reinforced Epoxy Composites

for Lecture Jabar Hussein Mohammed  and  In the current study, the influence of adding kaolin with variable particle size on the mechanical properties (flexural modulus E, toughness Gc, fracture toughness Kc, hardness HB, and Wear rate WR) of epoxy resin was evaluated. Composites of epoxy with varying concentrations of kaolin were prepared. The composites showed improved in properties with the addition of filler and with the decrease in particle size. In addition, in this study, multiple regression models were developed by utilizing (SPSS) package to predict the properties of kaolin reinforced epoxy composites. Good agreement was obtained between the predicted and the experimental results.

Experimental Study for the Effects of Crystalline Agents on Properties of Glass-Ceramic Coating

In this work, four series of glass-ceramic coatings were developed and applied by using the dipping technique to cast iron sheets. The influence of different types of crystallization agents was investigated in relation to the mechanical features of the coatings. The results indicated that the coating properties were strongly dependent on composition and concentration of crystallization agent. Coating with feldspar gives the highest value of hardness and adhesion index. In general, properties of the resultant coatings were improved in all cases; this is related to the formation of a complicated network from crystalline phases.

The effect of polymeric quenching media on mechanical properties of medium carbon steel

and Abstract. In this work, a polymer solution of Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) with different concentrations in water with different bath temperatures were used to quenching samples of medium carbon steel alloy. The mechanical properties and microstructure examination were evaluated for quenched samples and compered to those of water quenched samples. The results show that the best combination of properties can be achieve with 20% PVP quenched samples at 40oC. This treatment can be used instead of water quenching and tempering treatment for medium carbon steel samples and consequently reduce the overall cost of heat treatment process.
