The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a master’s degree to the student Tamara Amer Abbas on Thursday, 12/9/ 2024, in the Graduate Studies Hall in Building B, for her thesis entitled:
Optimization of" Stir-welding parameters for Aluminum-MatrixNanocomposite"
This study aimed to improve the mechanical properties by adding silicon carbide and alumina Nanoparticles to the aluminum alloy (AA6061-T6). The analysis of the mechanical properties were accomplished using Taguchi design
and Assignment of Weight by (Minitab®20), The results were compared with welded samples in the same welding conditions without adding nanoparticles. The results showed a noticeable improvement in the mechanical properties With the presence of nanoparticles when compared to samples without nanoparticles.
The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Imad Saadi Abdul Karim as Chairman and the membership of Prof. Dr. Hanaa Arir Samij, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Jalal Daoud. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Abbas Khamas Hussein, Asst. Prof. Dr. Laith Qais Abbas. The thesis was scientifically evaluated by Prof. Dr. Iyad Murad Takhakh, Asst. Prof. Dr. Saad Karim Shadher, and linguistically by Asst. Prof. Dr. Naseer Abdul Hussein Nasser.
