The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a PhD to the  student Zahraa Adnan Hamza on Wednesday, September 11/9/ 2024, in the Graduate Studies hall  in Building B, for her thesis entitled:

“Desulfurization of refinery equipment with modified coating layers"

This study aim to design catalytic coating layers  for internal surfaces of equipment by photocidative desulfurization. Obtained results showed that catalytic coating layers aided to reduce sulfur in fuel and better than  conventional desulfurization in refineries and also lowered pollution by eliminating SO2 emissions.

The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghaban as Chairman and the membership of Prof. Dr. Nevin Gamal Abdel Qader, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hamza Mustafa Kamal, Asst. Prof. Dr. Laith Waddah Ismail, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hiba Anwar Abdullah. The thesis was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Gamal Jalal Daoud, Asst. Prof. Dr. Murtada Abbas Jabbar.
