Abstract
The study aims to modify the surface of a commercially pure titanium implant to enhance osseointegration and bioactivity by preparing a thin coating layer of polymeric material (PMMA) as a matrix with the addition of ceramic particles (45S5 and MgO) in different percentages. X-ray techniques, infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy were used to evaluate the structure and chemical composition. The mechanical properties were assessed using scratch hardness and Vickers microhardness. Also, by examining the water absorption, the results showed that the coating layer is hydrophilic. And by immersing samples in simulated bodily fluids, the results showed that the coating layer was highly capable of achieving osseointegration by forming a hydroxyapatite layer.
